Summer 1992  by Yaz Nin

Summer 1992

take me to the flimsy frills of yesteryears

where we sat crocheting time and popping gum

neon pink hubba bubba (not our real Baba)

I called it under the sun

You in the sun

the cheap swimming costumes were aqua blue

our static radio of youth

crackled disrupted

when men began to call us

To bed, to bed

(Translation: Baba is Dad in Turkish)
